Workshop

As Geneva envisions a more sustainable future for the city, how can diverse youth voices shape an inclusive green transition? This interactive workshop, part of the city’s Democracy Week, brings together 30–40 participants from across Geneva’s international and local communities to co-create new pathways for youth engagement at the intersection of climate action and democratic participation.

Hosted in English at the Geneva Graduate Institute, the session will convene students, young environmental advocates, international organizations, local officials, and community changemakers. Together, we’ll map out existing systems and challenges that both support and hinder an inclusive green transition in Geneva, including civic involvement, environmental stewardship, and equity. We will then explore innovative strategies to address them by including all stakeholders involved.

Designed as both a standalone experience and the beginning of a transformative journey towards co-creating impact, this workshop will set the stage for future collaboration with Geneva-based foundations and institutions, aiming to amplify youth-led solutions for just and inclusive climate transitions in the city.

It builds on the ongoing project Youth Climate Activism and Local Institutions: Reframing Democratic Spaces at a Time of Polarisation, and is hosted in collaboration with the UNLEASH European Regional Innovation Lab, the Département du Territoire of Geneva, and the Global Cities Hub.
