4. Ancillary activity

For whom

Foreign students with a B or L permit may benefit from an ancillary activity during their studies. The have to apply for an ancillary activity.

Terms

For EU/EFTA students:

  • The maximum working time is 15 hours per week during the school or academic year and 40 hours during university holidays.

For non-EU/EFTA students:

  • You can start working at the earliest 6 months after the start of the course
  • You must be enrolled in a Swiss Higher Education Institution
  • The maximum working time is 15 hours per week during the school or academic year and 40 hours during university holidays
  • You must wait for the decision of the Cantonal Office of Population and Migration before starting working

Attachments

  • Form E duly completed, dated and signed by the beneficiary and the employer
  • Colour copy of a valid I.D.
  • Approval letter issued by the Swiss Higher Education Institution for the non-EU/EFTA students
