Sticker

Are the different pollution-related stickers used elsewhere in the world recognized in Geneva ?

Only the French Crit'Air sticker is recognized because its requirements are identical and its numbering system is equivalent.

Are the Crit'Air sticker categories equivalent to those of the Stick'AIR sticker ?

Yes, the requirements are the same and their numbering is therefore equivalent.

Is the Stick'AIR sticker recognized outside Geneva ?

At present, we’re not aware that it’s recognized anywhere else. Any possible recognition of the Stick'AIR sticker outside Geneva is the responsibility of the authorities of the country or region concerned.

Vehicle criteria and categorization

My vehicle has been imported and the emissions code of its Swiss registration document does not reflect its actual environmental performance. What should I do ?

For a vehicle registered in Switzerland, it is the emissions code in section 72 of the registration document which determines the correct Stick'AIR category. If this information is inaccurate, you should contact your Service cantonal des véhicules to have it corrected.

  • For a European vehicle, the required document is the European Certificate of Conformity;
  • For a vehicle of a different origin: present the vehicle during opening hours at the managerial office (bureau de l’encadrement) of the technical workshop (halle technique) of the Office cantonal des véhicules.

How do I identify a vehicle for the carriage of goods that can benefit from a transitional grace period until 15 January 2022 ?

A vehicle for the carriage of goods is identified in Switzerland by its registration document which must mention in section 19 "Vehicle type" one of the following specifications: "delivery vehicle", "truck/lorry", "motorized utility vehicle", "heavy articulated vehicle", "light motorized vehicle" or "heavy motorized vehicle".

However, a vehicle corresponding to one of the above specifications with an "ambulance", "hearse", "police van" or "motorhome" body is not regarded as a vehicle for the carriage of goods.

The table / calculator indicates that my vehicle is "uncategorized" with regard to the Stick'AIR sticker. Does that mean I'm exempt from the scheme?

No. "Uncategorized" means that a vehicle does not meet the minimum requirements for displaying a Stick'AIR sticker and is therefore subject to the restrictions provided for when the differentiated traffic measure is activated.

Restriction period

I live in the differentiated traffic zone and my vehicle is due for a technical inspection. It doesn’t have an authorized Stick'AIR sticker and the differentiated traffic measure is in force. What should I do ?

You should contact the OCV without delay to change your appointment. You will not be charged for the cancelled appointment as long as the warning activation level was not announced more than 48 hours previously.

Are vehicles parked in white or blue zones penalized in the event of a peak in air pollution?

Normal parking regulations shall apply without modification throughout the canton in the event of an air pollution peak. It’s therefore preferable to anticipate any parking-related restrictions before the differentiated traffic measure is implemented.

Obtaining a Stick'AIR sticker

Do I have to present an official document to acquire a Stick'AIR sticker ?

It’s recommended that you present your vehicle registration document (“carte grise*) when you purchase your Stick'AIR sticker. As it’s the responsibility of the owner of a given vehicle displaying a Stick'AIR sticker to determine its category, it’s useful to have this Stick'AIR category confirmed at the point of sale.

Can I buy several Stick'AIR stickers at a time ?

Yes, bearing in mind that determining the Stick'AIR sticker category of a given vehicle is the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle that displays it and must be able to be confirmed at any time by the authorities by means of the vehicle's registration document.

Do I have to present the vehicle in order to acquire a Stick'AIR sticker?

No. It’s recommended that you present your vehicle’s registration document when you purchase your Stick'AIR sticker. As it’s the responsibility of the owner of a given vehicle that displays a Stick'AIR sticker to determine its category, it’s useful to have this Stick'AIR category confirmed at the point of sale.

Why are non-plug-in hybrid vehicles not specifically mentioned in the criteria for Stick'AIR stickers ?

The environmental performances of this type of vehicle are not equivalent to those of plug-in hybrid vehicles. To determine the Stick'AIR category of a non-plug-in hybrid vehicle, its emissions code or Euro standard must be taken into account.
