My spouse has received his voting material but I have not

The post office distributes the voting material over a number of days so you will receive the material in the next few days.

I have received my voting material but I do not have a legitimisation card in order to be able to vote

Unlike other cantons in the canton of Geneva there is no such thing as a legitimisation card. Only the voting card received with the voting material attests to the right to vote. If you vote at the polling station, you must however take an identity document.

The voting material is not complete

Call the Service des votations et élections on 022 546 52 00 and you will be sent the missing material.

I have accidentally written my date of birth on and signed a voting card that is not mine. What can I do to correct it?

Cross out what you have written and ask the holder of the voting card to put his date of birth and to sign it. Under no circumstances should you change the name and address shown on the voting card.

Can a family put all the votes in a single return envelope?

Yes, on condition that in the delivery envelope there is the same number of voting cards as blue envelopes containing a ballot paper.

Up until which date can I post my postal vote?

The vote must get to us by the Saturday before the Sunday when the polling stations open at the latest. Therefore, you must post the envelope before 5pm on the Friday before polling day. We recommend that you post the vote during the day on Thursday at the latest.

It is too late to post my postal vote, where can I deliver it to?

Only to the Service des votations et élections, which is open on the Friday before polling day until 6pm, the Saturday morning from 8am to midday and the Sunday of polling day from 10am to midday. You can also take it to the polling station on the Sunday from 10am to midday. Town halls do not accept voting cards.

I want to vote at the polling station, which polling station should I go to?

Your polling station appears on the top left-hand side of the voting card. The addresses of the polling stations are given in the information brochure.

I am on holiday abroad and I have taken my vote with me in order to post it, do I need to put a stamp on it?

Yes, the pre-paid postage is only valid in Switzerland.

My child has scribbled on the voting material. Can I still use it for voting?

Contact the Service des votations et élections (022 546 52 00), which will send you a new set of voting material.

I made a mistake on the ballot paper, I put a cross by YES when I wanted to vote NO. What can I do?
